GR Caves... final installment

here is a larger view of that photo of Guru Rinpoche from the 'Meditation' Cave.

Outside, on the mountain top the wind was blowing strongly and - through all the fluttering prayer flags - you could clearly get a feeling for just how high up we were!

these particular mountains were obviously chosen by GR for their remoteness and elevated position - in this photo you can just about see in the distance the tops of other high mountains way below!

on the walk back down the slope you can look into a pretty little vale with richly cultivated farmland and what looks like a dried-out lake

The drive home took us a long time - much of it in darkness
We did the whole thing in reverse order and passed by Dzongsar Monastery again just as Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche and Sakya Trinzin came out of the Temple there after a long day of teachings. The monastery houses over 500 monks and it seemed they all came flooding down the Temple steps in one endless flow of crimson and gold - just in time for their dinner and then to bed
